It’s a Glorious Life Sermon

Last Sunday I was asked to preach for Commitment Sunday at the First Presbyterian Church of Hamilton Square in Hamilton Square, New Jersey. Pastor Andrew Barton and the congregation there were very gracious! For the offering of pledges, people came and placed their pledge (along with an acorn, which makes sense when you read the sermon) in a large planter, and took out a crafted leaf which they then attached to a tree that was placed on the side of the sanctuary. So this leaf-less tree was transformed into a tree of generosity as the congregation pledged their financial support to the mission and ministry of the church for the coming year. Seeing people of every age and stage joyfully committing their gifts to God as a congregation was really inspiring!

Check out the church here. Read the sermon here: Its a Glorious Life – Isaiah 43-7.
